Federico Quintana
“This is my father, Federico Quintana, 82 years old, who in 2021 had a cerebral stroke and a pulmonary embolism. After that, he ended up in a rehabilitation hospital for a month. Today, he is in a wheelchair. When he left the hospital and continued his recovery, one day he told me about his lifelong wish to become an American citizen, and he asked if I could help him. Of course, I said yes! Later, we got in touch with Catholic Social Services in Phoenix, Arizona, and they assisted us with the process until my father took his oath on January 27, 2023. “This is my father, Federico Quintana, 82 years old, who in 2021 had a cerebral stroke and a pulmonary embolism. “had always wanted to apply for U.S. citizenship, but I often found myself coming up with reasons that prevented me from doing so. It felt like a goal that was constantly being delayed. However, everything changed when I joined a workshop hosted by NAC. Their team was compassionate and knowledgeable, which completely changed my perspective. They explained the complex citizenship application process to me and reassured me that I could comfortably navigate the interview in my native language. They gave me a renewed sense of hope and determination, finally prompting me to take the plunge into the citizenship application process. Thanks to this incredible program, I was able to achieve my goal and became a U.S. citizen.”
